About Ready Household

Practical preparedness for everyday families โ€” not survivalists, not preppers, just parents who want their household ready for what's actually likely to happen.

Why We Built This Site

When you Google "emergency preparedness," you get one of two things: dry government checklists (useful, but no product guidance) or deep-end survivalist content aimed at people who think civilization is ending next Thursday.

Neither is helpful for the family who just watched a hurricane take out power for a week two counties over and thought: what if that was us?

Ready Household fills that gap. We write for the suburban parent who has never thought about this before, who doesn't have a lot of time or money, and who wants honest answers โ€” not fear.

What We Cover

Our Editorial Approach

We align our guidance with official sources: FEMA's Ready.gov, the American Red Cross, and CDC emergency guidance. When we recommend products, we tell you exactly why โ€” not just "this is popular."

We acknowledge limitations. If a water filter removes bacteria but not viruses, we say so. If a product has a drawback, we include it. The goal is for you to make the right choice for your family, not for us to make a sale.

What We Don't Cover

We don't write about weapons, self-defense, geopolitical scenarios, off-grid homesteading as a lifestyle, or anything that reads like civilization-collapse prep. That's a different site for a different audience. We focus on the emergencies that actually affect families every year: power outages, storms, evacuations, and supply disruptions.
